2017 has been the year that many students trained with us wanting to specialise in Bridal make-up.
Our students come from lots of different backgrounds; some already have a hair styling business and wanted to add make-up to their skill set.
We have had a lawyer who wanted to re-train in make-up so that she could run her own business around her children.
Some of our students trained in make-up artistry ten years ago then had a family so had time out before wanting to re-train with us to go on as freelance make-up artists.
Not only do we offer make-up training but we support all of our students, providing them with business set up, mentoring, work placements & life long support. We are also lucky enough that all past students want to support and help each other so a community has grown.
Seeing as we had quite a few students starting up their own bridal hair and make-up businesses, we decided that the best way we could support them was to organise a bridal photoshoot so that all students worked and achieved professional photos that they could use on their websites, business cards, any advertising materials and to be able to demonstrate their work.
This really is the best business start that anyone needs to set up their business and it was our main student’s worry – How could they start up a business and get booked for jobs without having photographic evidence of their make-up skills?
On the day, three to four unique looks were achieved by each make-up artist meaning that this is the only photoshoot they needed to be a part of to give them material. From here, they have already started getting bookings and have seen their businesses grow. They can now use photos of ‘actual’ brides that they have worked with on their website and to promote themselves.
Professional wedding photographer Richard Paice attended to take all of the photos on the day. Richard is an amazing photographer and an extremely laid back guy. He takes the day in his pace (excuse the pun) and gets stuck in working with each individual make-up artist to capture their vision for each photo. It is important to get a lot of variety, close ups and full length so that our make-up artists can really show off their abilities.
Four models also joined us on the day which was hosted by Amy Prifti at our Lewes Studio. The day was a beautiful sunny, dry day and it was great to have an outdoor location for our photoshoot.
We can’t wait to run another photoshoot to support our current students, watch this space……
